Activities Forecast of World Earth Day 2023 in Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark

April 22, 2023 is the 54th World Earth Day, and the theme of this year's Earth Day is "Cherish the Earth, Harmony between Man and Nature". To further guide the whole society to establish the ecological civilization concept of "respecting nature, adapting to nature and protecting nature", promote the construction of beautiful Qianshan, and jointly build an earth home where people and nature live in harmony, Tianzhushan Global Geopark and Shuzhou Primary School of Qianshan City will jointly hold a series of thematic publicity activities for the World Earth Day 2023.

Tianzhushan Museum Project Gets Accelerated

Tu Gaosheng, a member of the standing committee of Qianshan Municipal Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC) and deputy director of Tianzhushan National Geopark Administrative Committee, inspected the construction progress of Tianzhushan Museum Project on 12th July. He gave some instructions on the construction, operation and management of Tianzhushan Museum and Smart Tianzhushan Information Center.

In order to protect geoheritage, promote geoscience education, improve public’s scientific knowledge, and prepare for the revalidation from UNESCO evaluators, the CPC Qianshan Municipal Committee, the Qianshan Municipal People’s Government and Tianzhushan National Geopark Administrative Committee have launched the construction of Tianzhushan Museum Project, utilizing the biodiversity protection funding and fossil sites protection funding from Germany and other fundings. The museum is located in the 7K entrance service area of Tianzhushan, covering an area of about 5,000m2 with an construction area of about 3,000m2. The Earth's Secret Hall, Life Evolution Hall and Folk Culture Hall have been completed, which showcase the value of the Geopark and the history of regional geological and geomorphic evolution, revealing the connection between regional geology, biology and cultural diversity. The museum is expected to be put into trial operation at the end of July.

Tu Gaosheng also requested that the construction company should speed up the construction of exhibits, power supply, water supply and parking lots, to ensure that the museum begins trial operation as scheduled; relevant departments of the Tianzhushan National Geopark administrative committee should make exerted effort to improve the construction of the exhibition, and carry out training for the staff on relevant professional knowledge and their ability to organize educational excursion. The big data of local tourism, weather and lightening warning should be collected and transferred to Smart Tianzhushan Information Center to facilitate the construction of smart tourism.

Tu Gaosheng also put forward requirements for the security, cleaning, and regular management of the museum.
