April 22, 2023 is the 54th World Earth Day, and the theme of this year's Earth Day is "Cherish the Earth, Harmony between Man and Nature". To further guide the whole society to establish the ecological civilization concept of "respecting nature, adapting to nature and protecting nature", promote the construction of beautiful Qianshan, and jointly build an earth home where people and nature live in harmony, Tianzhushan Global Geopark and Shuzhou Primary School of Qianshan City will jointly hold a series of thematic publicity activities for the World Earth Day 2023.
On
Oct. 10, 2019 Annual Meeting of UNESCO Global Geoparks in China was held in
Dunhuang City. Mr. Liu Yuan, director of department of natural protected areas
management of National Forestry and Grassland Administration, Mr. He Qingcheng,
director of national geoparks network center, and representatives from UNESCO
Global Geoparks in China as well as experts and scholars attended the meeting.
Tianzhushan representatives attended the meeting.
Mr.
Chen Yanren, member of standing committee of Jiuquan Municipal Committee of the
CPC and Secretary of Dunhuang Municipal Committee of the CPC, hoped that this
annual meeting could set up a cooperation and communication bridge, letting all
UGGps in China share experience, make in-depth exchange to get mutual benefits
and further development.
Mr.
Guo Qizhi, vice mayor of Jiuquan City, said that Jiuquan City would take this meeting
as a good opportunity, to enhance comprehensive management, improve
infrastructure facilities, strengthen science education, geoheritage
protection, scientific research and promotion, to better develop the UGGp with
an open mind.
Mr.
Liu Yuan, director of department of natural protected areas management of
National Forestry and Grassland Administration, gave an important speech on how
to strengthen the management of geoparks, how to transfer myth tourism to
geoscientific tourism and how to strengthen communication among UGGps in China.
Mr.
Zheng Yuan, office director of National Geoparks Network Center, gave a work
progress report of China Geoparks Network 2018-2019.
Representatives
from Yimengshan, Jiuhuashan, Taining, Tianzhushan, Zhijindong, Danxiashan and
Dunhuang made reports on evaluation and revalidation missions, shared
experience on management and development of UGGps.
