On August 2, the opening ceremony of 2020 Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark Science Popularization Summer Camp, sponsored by Science and Technology Association of Anqing City and Education and Sports Bureau of Anqing City, and hosted by Tianzhushan Geopark Administrative Committee, Science and Technology Association of Qianshan City and Tianzhushan Geopark Museum, was held in Science and Technology Museum Square of Anqing City. Mr. Ju Gaoxiang, vice chairman of Science and Technology Association of Anqing, Mr. Wang Qu, basic education section chief of Education and Sports Bureau of Anqing City, Mr. Xu Yunli, chairman of Science and Technology Association of Qianshan City, Mr. Wang Quanhai, director of Geopark Office of Tianzhushan Administrative Committee and chairman of Tianzhushan Tourism Development Co., LTD, attended the opening ceremony. Forty-two campers from all counties (cities, districts) of Anqing City participated in the opening ceremony.

At the ceremony, chairman Xu Yunli of Science and Technology Association of Qianshan City first read out the names of the campers. Director Wang Quanhai introduced the contents of the summer camp. Section chief Wang Qu and vice president Ju Gaoxiang gave speeches. A student representative He Shixu and a teacher representative Ye Junfeng also successively gave speeches. Then, all campers visited the Science and Technology Musuem of Anqing City.

This summer camp activity will last for 5 days, aims to enrich students’ summer holiday and improve their scientific quality, letting them learn about the geoheritage, culture, natural scenery, flora and fauna and fossils of Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark.
