From August 2 to August 6, sponsored by Anqing Association of Science and Technology and Anqing Education and Sports Bureau, and hosted by Tianzhushan Administrative Committee, Qianshan Association of Science and Technology and Tianzhushan Geopark Museum, the 2020 Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark Science Popularization Summer Camp came to a successful conclusion. Forty-three teachers and students from ten counties (cities and districts) of Anqing participated in this summer camp.

During the opening ceremony, chairman Xu Yunli of Qianshan Association of Science and Technology first read out the names of the campers. Mr. Wang Quanhai, director of Geopark Office of Tianzhushan Administrative Committee introduced the contents of the summer camp. Vice president Ju Gaoxiang of Anqing Association of Science and Technology gave an ebullient speech, he said that the summer camp was a chance for the students to see the world and to experience the wild life, hoping every camper to cherish the opportunity.

In the following days, campers successively visited Anqing Science and Technology Museum, Qianshan City Museum, Tianzhushan Geopark Museum, listened to the popular science lecture about the UNESCO Global Geopark, experienced stone-inscription rubbing and Doumu ancient pottery art, visited Tianzhushan scenic area and Tianzhushan Grand Canyon scenic spot, carried out forest education and bird-watching nature education activities, and made scientific investigation in Paleontological fossil sites and ultrahigh pressure metamorphic rocks.

At the closing ceremony, Mr. Xu Yunli, President of Qianshan Association of Science and Technology, on behalf of the summer camp organizers, congratulated all the campers on the successful completion of the camp, and expressed full affirmation and satisfaction to the campers for their independence, cooperation and strength in the activity.

Tianzhushan Geopark has always attached great importance to science popularization, conscientiously practiced the three major tasks of UNESCO Global Geoparks, and actively carried out various kinds of scientific popularization activities. This popular science summer camp is aimed at disseminating geoscience knowledge to teenagers, enhancing their awareness of cherishing the beautiful earth and protecting natural resources, firmly establishing the concept that "Clear Water and Green Mountains Are Valuable Treasures", and realizing the harmonious development between man and nature.
