From Dec. 22 to Dec. 23, the senior training class on IGGP and evaluation system was held in Huangshan UNESCO Global Geopark. As a sister geopark of Huangshan, Tianzhushan was invited to attend the activity.

Evaluators and experts from the executive board of the GGN, Chinese GGN office and China University of Geosciences gave lectures and more than 60 representatives from 13 domestic geoparks took part in the training class.

Focused on the subject of IGGP and combined with the reality of the management of Chinese geoparks, experts meticulously introduced the guidelines and criteria of UNESCO Global Geoparks, the procedure and conditions for the extension of UGGs and measures for the harmonious development between geoparks and communities, engaged in in-depth discussion on the similarities and differences among UNESCO Global Geoparks, World Heritage Sites and Biosphere Reserves and drew conclusions about the recommendations from evaluations and revalidations in recent years. Representatives from Zigong, Taishan and Alxa shared their experience on the geopark extensions and put forward many valuable suggestions to Huangshan UGG. Participants also visited the geomuseum and outdoor interpretation system, and engaged in in-depth exchange on strengthening the links among geology, nature and history.

The training class provided a communication platform for the management and development of geoparks, and all geoparks developed a closer relationship and enhanced their friendship through mutual sharing, which had practical importance in promoting their development.
