Activities Forecast of World Earth Day 2023 in Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark

April 22, 2023 is the 54th World Earth Day, and the theme of this year's Earth Day is "Cherish the Earth, Harmony between Man and Nature". To further guide the whole society to establish the ecological civilization concept of "respecting nature, adapting to nature and protecting nature", promote the construction of beautiful Qianshan, and jointly build an earth home where people and nature live in harmony, Tianzhushan Global Geopark and Shuzhou Primary School of Qianshan City will jointly hold a series of thematic publicity activities for the World Earth Day 2023.

Tianzhushan Co-organizes The 16th Academic Annual Conference on Vertebrate Paleontology of China

From Nov. 10 to Nov. 12, the 16th academic annual conference on vertebrate paleontology of China, hosted by the Institute of vertebrate paleontology and paleoanthropology of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Land and Resources Department of Anhui Province, co-organized by Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark, was held in Hefei city. More than 340 experts and scholars from over 110 scientific research institutes and universities exchanged information on their latest achievements through more than 70 academic reports.

Mr. Zhang Miman, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and foreign academician of Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Mr. Qiu Zhanxiang, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Mr. Zhou Zhonghe, academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and foreign academician of American Academy of Sciences, Professor Mike Benton of Bristol University and academician of Royal Academy of Sciences, Mr. Alexander W.A.Kellner, academician of Brazilian Academy of Sciences and curator of the National Museum of Brazil, attended the opening ceremony.

Year 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of academician Zhou Mingzhen, who has made great contributions to the vertebrate paleontology of China. He conferred on Qianshan the title of “A Treasure Trove of Vertebrate Fossils and The Birthplace of Asian Mammals”.

From Nov.13 to Nov.14, part representatives came to Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark to conduct scientific investigations into Paleocene mammalian fossils and the typical stratigraphic profile in Qianshan.
