April 22, 2024 is the 55th World Earth Day, and the theme of this year's Earth Day is "Planet vs. Plastics". In order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, publicize Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, guide the whole society to establish the concept of ecological civilization of "respecting nature, conforming to nature, and protecting nature", promote the construction of beautiful Qianshan, and jointly build an earth home where man and nature coexist in harmony, Tianzhushan Global Geopark, Anqing Qianshan Ecological Environment Branch and Qianshan Pailou Central Primary School jointly carried out the 55th "World Earth Day" and the 5th Asia-Pacific Geopark Week Science Popularization Campaign. In the form of museum-school cooperation and joint construction and common benefit, Tianzhushan Geopark will give full play to the social education function of the museum and jointly build a "second classroom" for popular science education.

The
18th Annual Academic Conference of the Mineral and Rock Geochemistry
Society of China was held in Hefei City from 17-20 April 2023. The conference was
organized by the Mineral and Rock Geochemistry Society of China, hosted by the
University of Science and Technology of China and the Institute of
Geochemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and co-organized by Tianzhushan
Global Geopark. Nearly 2,000 representatives from domestic universities,
research institutes and production units attended the conference, including the
Honorary Chairmen, Academician Liu Congqiang and Academician Hu Ruizhong, the
Chairman, Researcher Feng Xinbin, and Researchers Chen Jing'an, Dong Faqin, He
Hongping, Jin Zhangdong, Li Wei, Academician Li Xianhua, Professor Liu Fulai,
Professor Liu Yongsheng, Professor Wang Yuming, Professor Wang Rucheng, Professor
Wei Guoqi, Academician Wu Fuyuan, Academician Xie Xiande, Academician Zhang
Hongfu, Professor Zhao Zhidan, Academician Zheng Yongfei, Professor Zheng
Jianping, Researcher Zhou Xinhua and other advisors, leaders and special guests
of the Society. Academician Bao Xinhe, President of the University of Science
and Technology of China, was invited to attend the opening ceremony.
From
April 18-20, 61 sessions were held, with 650 oral presentations and 104 poster
sessions, including 201 invited presentations and 40 prize presentations, and
two special lectures. The conference was preceded by a lecture on
"Geochemistry of Rocks on Convergent Plate Margins", hosted by the
University of Science and Technology of China and delivered by Academician
Zheng Yongfei, Professor Zhao Zifu, Professor Chen Yixiang, Professor Chen
Renxu, Professor Dai Liqun, Professor Gao Xiaoying and Professor Xia Qiongxia.
A lecture on "Writing Scientific and Technical Papers and Academic
Ethics" was given by Professor Zheng Xiujuan from China University of
Petroleum (Beijing). These presentations were systematic, in-depth and
relevant, and were well received by the young scientists, especially the young
students.
After
the meeting, members of Tianzhushan Geopark Administrative Centre accompanied
some of the participants to have a field investigation in Tianzhushan Geopark, studying
the classical ultrahigh pressure metamorphic rocks and granite rocks. They
successively visited Tianzhushan Geopark Museum, Hanchangchong geosite and
Tianzhushan granite landform area, exchanged and learned from each other following
the leading professors, and the representatives expressed that the
post-conference visit was very fruitful.
