April 22, 2024 is the 55th World Earth Day, and the theme of this year's Earth Day is "Planet vs. Plastics". In order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, publicize Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, guide the whole society to establish the concept of ecological civilization of "respecting nature, conforming to nature, and protecting nature", promote the construction of beautiful Qianshan, and jointly build an earth home where man and nature coexist in harmony, Tianzhushan Global Geopark, Anqing Qianshan Ecological Environment Branch and Qianshan Pailou Central Primary School jointly carried out the 55th "World Earth Day" and the 5th Asia-Pacific Geopark Week Science Popularization Campaign. In the form of museum-school cooperation and joint construction and common benefit, Tianzhushan Geopark will give full play to the social education function of the museum and jointly build a "second classroom" for popular science education.
On May 13, 2023,
Tianzhushan UGGp and the School of Earth Sciences of China University of
Geosciences (Wuhan) signed an agreement on cooperation in building an
industry-academia-research base at Tianzhushan Geopark Museum. Mr. Liu Xianguo,
curator of Yifu Museum, Mr. Chen Huawen, Vice Minister of the Propaganda
Department of the Party Committee of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), Ms.
Zhu Zongmin, Vice Dean of the School of Earth Sciences, Professor Ma Changqian
of the School of Earth Sciences, Mr. Wang Lianxun, Secretary of the Party
Branch of the Department of Earth Material Science, Mr. Shu Hanbing, Standing
Committee Member of Qianshan Municipal Committee and Executive Deputy Director
of Tianzhushan Geopark Administrative Committee, Mr. Zhang Fang, Member of the
Party Committee and Second Researcher of Tianzhushan Scenic Area, attended the
event. Mr. Zhou Gang, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Earth
Sciences of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), and Mr. Gao Jianqiang,
Director of Tianzhushan Geopark Administrative Centre, signed the agreement on
behalf of both parties.
On behalf of
Tianzhushan Geopark, Shu Hanbing extended a warm welcome to the delegation from
China University of Geosciences (Wuhan), congratulated the establishment of the
base and introduced the relevant situation of Tianzhushan UGGp. He said that in
the process of managing and developing the Global Geopark, Tianzhushan Geopark
had paid great attention to the cooperation with universities, and had signed
cooperation agreements with the University of Science and Technology of China,
Nanjing University and other research institutions, carried out a number of
cooperation projects, and achieved a series of results. Mr. Shu Hanbing hoped
that China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) would support the development of
Tianzhushan UGGp, increase the construction of the base, and build the
cooperation base of Tianzhushan UGGp into a model and highlight of the
cooperation between universities and the Global Geopark, so as to promote the
high-quality development of Tianzhushan UGGp.
Mr. Liu Xianguo
said that Tianzhushan UGGp had a number of world-class geological heritages,
rich biodiversity and broad development prospects. On the basis of the
agreement, China University of Geosciences (Wuhan) would further strengthen the
cooperation between the university and the local community, give full play to
its advantages in scientific research, technology and talents, and actively
help Tianzhushan UGGp solve important technical problems, and also make the
Tianzhushan UGGp as another comprehensive geological, cultural and natural
practice base of China University of Geosciences (Wuhan). It is expected that
both sides will work together to deepen their cooperation, achieve
complementary advantages and promote common development.
The
establishment of the Industry-University-Research Cooperation Base is another
result of the cooperation between Tianzhushan UGGp and the university.
According to the cooperation agreement, deep-level cooperation will be carried
out in scientific research, key topics, personnel training, health recuperation and study-tours.
After the signing ceremony, the delegation inspected Xudawu fossil site, Valley Stream Cultural Park and the granite landform area of Tianzhushan UGGp.
