Tianzhushan has a long history of tea production. Qianshan tea was one of the famous teas during the Tang Dynasty. Tianzhushan was a part of Shuzhou during the Tang Dynasty. The Classic of Tea by LuYu recorded the production area of Shuzhou tea. Shenkuo from Song Dynasty wrote “When the ancients talk about tea, they only mention the tea from Yangxian, Guzhu, Tianzhu, Mengding and so on…” in his Dream Pool Essay.

Tianzhushan at 30°N is located in the World’s High-Quality Tea Production Belt, with distinct seasons and cloudy weather, nourishing the tea with rich flavor. The soil is yellowish brown, thick, rich in phosphorus and potassium, and abundant in organic substances. Tianzhushan tea has an excellent quality with more than ten brands such as Tianzhu Jianhao and Tianzhu Xianyue. Tianzhu Jianhao is a special grade of Tianzhushan tea, which is one of the Top 10 famous teas in China. It is named by its new tea leaves covered in tiny white hairs, emerald in color, very flat, and straight like a sword. Tianzhu Xianyue is a high-quality tea. Named by its leaves which are thin and uniform, slightly curved, with sharp sprouts and shaped like a crescent moon.

Anhui Chizhan Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. was established in 2018, with an existing tea field of more than 1.53km2. The tea field is located in Dalongwo, the main peak scenic area of Tianzhushan UGGp (Dalongwo Qian Mu Tea Field was rated as a “natural selenium-rich plot” by the Chinese Geological Society in 2022). The tea field insists on no chemical fertilizer, no pesticide and no herbicide to ensure high standard of tea cultivation. The company currently produces the Qiyi series of tea represented by Tianzhu Jianhao. After testing, the selenium content of Qiyi tea is 0.24mg/kg and the zinc content is 50.8mg/kg, and it has been certified as organic tea rich in selenium and zinc by China Organic Food Certification Center (COFCC). The company is developing a tea field tour involving sightseeing, research, production and tasting.
