
To popularize earth science knowledge and enhance awareness of natural resource conservation, Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark will host a series of science popularization activities for the 57th World Earth Day and the 7th Asia Pacific Geopark Week. Through offline popularization and online interaction, we will explore the mysteries of geology and protect our common homeland.
On September 9-15, 2024, the 8th APGN symposium was held in Cao Bang UNESCO Global Geopark, Cao Bang Province, Viet Nam. At the invitation of the Organizing Committee of the 8th APGN symposium, Ms. Huang Wen, deputy director of Tianzhushan Geopark Administrative Center, attended the symposium.

With the theme of "Local / Indigenous People and Sustainable Development in Geoparks", the symposium attracted 800 experts, scholars and geoparks’ representatives from 19 countries, including China, Malaysia, Iran, Indonesia, Japan and South Korea. Tianzhushan UGGp representative Ms. Huang Wen participated in the 8th APGN symposium, APGN Coordinators Council, APGN Exhibition, Special Meeting to Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Global Geoparks Network, participated in six-topic scientific sessions and gave an oral presentation "Examples of Community Engagement within Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark", learned the experience of Geoparks development and management, and participated in network exchanges.

This symposium is an important opportunity for Tianzhushan Global Geopark to participate in international exchanges and cooperation. By participating in the 8th APGN symposium, Tianzhushan Geopark not only demonstrated its own development achievements, but also learned from international advanced experience and management models. In the future, Tianzhushan Geopark will continue to protect geoheritage, strengthen exchanges and cooperation with geoparks at home and abroad, promote the sustainable development of local communities, and contribute more to the protection of the earth's homeland.
