April 22, 2024 is the 55th World Earth Day, and the theme of this year's Earth Day is "Planet vs. Plastics". In order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, publicize Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, guide the whole society to establish the concept of ecological civilization of "respecting nature, conforming to nature, and protecting nature", promote the construction of beautiful Qianshan, and jointly build an earth home where man and nature coexist in harmony, Tianzhushan Global Geopark, Anqing Qianshan Ecological Environment Branch and Qianshan Pailou Central Primary School jointly carried out the 55th "World Earth Day" and the 5th Asia-Pacific Geopark Week Science Popularization Campaign. In the form of museum-school cooperation and joint construction and common benefit, Tianzhushan Geopark will give full play to the social education function of the museum and jointly build a "second classroom" for popular science education.
On January 16,
2026, the Tianzhushan Geopark Museum radiated warmth and joy as it hosted the
seventh science outreach program for students with special needs. Entitled
“Walking Together with Warmth, Painting the Starlight,” the event invited
students from Qianshan Special Education School to engage in a day of
interactive learning and creative expression, further extending the Geopark’s
“Greater Love” initiative.

Guided by
volunteer science educators, the students explored exhibits in the Hall of
Earth’s Mysteries, the Hall of Life Evolution and the Hall of Wan Culture.
Through vivid explanations, hands-on interactions with specimens, and lively
Q&A sessions, the young participants gained insights into the geological
history, natural resources, and local cultural heritage of Tianzhushan,
sparking curiosity and enthusiasm for science.

Following the
museum tour, the group gathered at the Tianzhushan Research Camp. Under the
guidance of an intangible cultural heritage artist, the students painted unique
Beijing Opera masks. Using brushes and vibrant colors, they learned about the
symbolism behind each hue—how different colors represent distinct character
traits in Chinese opera. This creative activity not only enhanced their motor
skills but also deepened their appreciation for traditional art.

As a gesture of
encouragement, each student received a gift package containing science picture
books, colored pencils, and souvenirs from the Geopark.

Though the event
concluded with laughter and proudly displayed artwork, the warmth it generated
continues to resonate. Every book, brush and hand-painted mask carries a
message of care and hope, serving as a beacon to inspire these young minds as
they explore the world. As a key part of Tianzhushan’s “Greater Love” brand,
this program goes beyond science and culture immersion—it builds a bridge of
empathy and shared belief. Moving forward, Tianzhushkan UNESCO Global Geopark
plans to continue collaborating with community partners to ensure such
meaningful experiences reach more children, planting seeds of knowledge and
lighting the way with the stars of culture and inclusion.
