To popularize earth science knowledge and enhance awareness of natural resource conservation, Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark will host a series of science popularization activities for the 57th World Earth Day and the 7th Asia Pacific Geopark Week. Through offline popularization and online interaction, we will explore the mysteries of geology and protect our common homeland.

On March 21, the
World Forest Day, amidst the vibrant spring season, Tianzhushan UNESCO Global
Geopark partnered with Doumu Central Primary School to host the World Forest
Day themed science education activity which aimed to plant the seeds of
ecological awareness in children, promote the importance of forest conservation
and foster a mindset of respecting, adapting to, and protecting nature.

Students from
Class 301 of Doumu Central Primary School visited the Tianzhushan Geopark
Museum under the guidance of docents. There, they learned about the geopark’s
rich natural resources and the critical role of forest preservation, sparking a
sense of responsibility to protect the environment.

During an
interactive session, the docent posed a question: "If you lived in this
forest, what kind of house would you want?" The children eagerly shared
imaginative ideas: "I want a warm house!" and "My house would
have big trees outside the window with lots of birds singing!" …

Later, volunteers
led the students to a hands-on workshop at the study camp. Guided by
instructors, the children worked in groups to create miniature "forest
cabins." Focused and creative, they completed their projects within an
hour. Proudly presenting their work, they explained: "This is an Osmanthus
tree, just like the one in my courtyard," and "This stream reminds me
of my hometown…"
The activity
also featured a "Brushstrokes Blossom, Painting the Forest" poster
competition. Selected outstanding entries will be displayed on the official
WeChat account of Tianzhushan Geopark Museum.

This World
Forest Day initiative deepened the children’s understanding of the relationship
between forests and humanity, sowing seeds of ecological consciousness. Moving
forward, Tianzhushan Geopark Museum will continue its mission of
"protecting nature and preserving heritage" by innovating science
education formats, enriching content, and building an immersive ecological
education system. It will strengthen the museum-school-community collaboration
mechanism, develop diverse ecological practice courses, and provide
high-quality cultural services, contributing to a beautiful Tianzhushan and
harmonious coexistence between humans and nature.
