The town of Huangpu, located in the southwest of Qianshan city, is a national key town, a national development and reform pilot town, an characteristic township of Anhui Province. The town has a total area of 152 km2, 14 administrative villages, 53,000 people, 40 km2 of arable land and 66.67 km2 of mountainous land. The town has a provincial model high school, Huangpu Middle School, a number of ancient houses and two 3A tourist attractions.

At the end of 2022, the town of Huangpu is awarded the second batch of geo-villages (towns) by Geological Society of China. It is an important scientific research area in the southern part of the Tianzhushan UGGp, where the 230 million-year-old ultra-high-pressure metamorphic zone has an international reputation of being "the leaker of secrets from the depths of the earth". This area is rich in natural resources, with ultra-high-pressure metamorphic zones and neoproterozoic metamorphic granites such as eclogite. There are also paleontological fossils such as the Mimotona wana and Ahnuichelys tsienshansis, and other geological heritage resources.

The town of Huangpu is carrying out the construction of geo-villages (towns) in the mode of "geology + ecological tourism", cultivating a new template of rural revitalization that integrates geo-culture with rural culture, geological stories with folklore, and agricultural geology with cultivation culture.
