April 22, 2024 is the 55th World Earth Day, and the theme of this year's Earth Day is "Planet vs. Plastics". In order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, publicize Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, guide the whole society to establish the concept of ecological civilization of "respecting nature, conforming to nature, and protecting nature", promote the construction of beautiful Qianshan, and jointly build an earth home where man and nature coexist in harmony, Tianzhushan Global Geopark, Anqing Qianshan Ecological Environment Branch and Qianshan Pailou Central Primary School jointly carried out the 55th "World Earth Day" and the 5th Asia-Pacific Geopark Week Science Popularization Campaign. In the form of museum-school cooperation and joint construction and common benefit, Tianzhushan Geopark will give full play to the social education function of the museum and jointly build a "second classroom" for popular science education.
In anticipation
of the 54th World Environment Day, the Tianzhushan Geopark Museum organized a
science popularization event themed "Protecting Geological Heritage,
Building a Green Home" at Xuehu Square in Qianshan City on June 4, 2025.
The event aimed to deeply implement Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological
Civilization and respond to the public awareness campaign of Qianshan City's
2025 World Environment Day and Anhui Promotion Week.
The event
featured a meticulously curated photo exhibition showcasing China's UNESCO
Global Geoparks, which drew numerous citizens. Over ten display boards vividly
presented the unique geological landscapes, rich biodiversity, and significant
ecological conservation achievements of Tianzhushan and other Chinese geoparks.
Museum docents provided passionate explanations, highlighting the critical role
of geoparks in ecosystem protection and promoting sustainable development. This
allowed attendees to gain a deeper appreciation for the distinctive charm and
vital importance of geological heritage.
Museum staff
actively distributed popular science handbooks about Tianzhushan Geopark,
museum promotional leaflets, and brochures advocating geological heritage
protection to passersby. Science volunteers patiently answered public inquiries
about geology and environmental conservation while encouraging citizens to scan
QR codes to follow the museum's official platforms for ongoing earth science
information. Statistics show that the event distributed 100 copies of the
Tianzhushan Geopark Handbook and over 300 pieces of various museum promotional
materials, effectively disseminating geological and environmental knowledge.
As one of the
Ministry of Ecology and Environment's first batch of "Youth Ecological
Civilization Education Practice Sites," the Tianzhushan Geopark Museum
will continue to leverage its exemplary role. It pledges to innovate
public-friendly, creative science education approaches, deepen the promotion of
geological heritage protection and ecological civilization concepts, foster
public participation in safeguarding pristine mountains and rivers, and
contribute significantly to building a beautiful home where humanity and nature
coexist in harmony.
