From Aug. 24 to Aug. 28, 2015 Chinese Volcanic Geoparks Forum was successfully held in Yandangshan Global Geopark. This forum was co-initiated by Yandangshan, Wudalianchi, Ningde, Leiqiong and Jinpohu Global Geoparks, under the theme of “Cooperation, Communication and Sustainable Development”. The forum invited experts from the executive board of UNESCO GGN, IUCN, IAG, and more than 160 representatives from China, Malaysia, Australia, Poland, Korea, Japan, England and Tanzania, to engage in joint discussion and communication. Two representatives from Tianzhushan Global Geopark, as a sister geopark of Yandangshan Global Geopark, also attended the forum.

On the forum, domestic and foreign experts engaged in academic exchanges and in-depth discussions on the management, development and challenges of volcanic geoparks, the promotion and publicity of research results, and domestic and foreign cooperative relationships for sustainable development; they also put forward various plans to solve realistic problems.

Five Chinese volcanic geoparks jointly set up the Chinese Volcanic Geoparks Alliance, which would continuously promote the protection of resources and environment, geo-tourism, marketing, management interaction, scientific research and international cooperation, vigorously propelling the sustainable development of Chinese volcanic geoparks. Currently 8 volcanic geoparks have joined the alliance.
