April 22, 2024 is the 55th World Earth Day, and the theme of this year's Earth Day is "Planet vs. Plastics". In order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, publicize Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, guide the whole society to establish the concept of ecological civilization of "respecting nature, conforming to nature, and protecting nature", promote the construction of beautiful Qianshan, and jointly build an earth home where man and nature coexist in harmony, Tianzhushan Global Geopark, Anqing Qianshan Ecological Environment Branch and Qianshan Pailou Central Primary School jointly carried out the 55th "World Earth Day" and the 5th Asia-Pacific Geopark Week Science Popularization Campaign. In the form of museum-school cooperation and joint construction and common benefit, Tianzhushan Geopark will give full play to the social education function of the museum and jointly build a "second classroom" for popular science education.

On September 17, the symposium on the 10th anniversary
of Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark was held. Mr. Tu Gaosheng, standing
committee member of the Municipal Party Committee and deputy director of Tianzhushan
Administrative Committee attended the symposium and made a speech, Mr. Zhang
Fang, member of Tianzhushan Scenic Area Party Committee and director of Tourism
Resort Administrative Committee chaired the meeting. Professor Liu Yican,
doctoral supervisor of University of Science and Technology of China, Mr. Yang
Shanbin, director of Anhui Center of Xinhua News And Information Center, Mr. Zhao
Kai, associate professor of Anqing Normal University and other experts and
scholars were invited to attend the symposium. Members of the administrative
committee, Forestry Bureau, Cultural Tourism and Sports Bureau, Natural
Resources and Planning Bureau and persons in charge of Huangpu town, Doumu town,
Tianzhushan town and other relevant towns, and maintenance staff of Lianhua
Village, Heping Village, Wanghu Village, Huangpu Village and other geo-sites,
as well as geopark partners such as Doumu Ancient Pottery, Tianzhushan Central
Primary School, Qianshan No.4 Middle School were invited to attend the
symposium.
At the symposium, Professor Liu Yican made a special
invitation report. Mr. Gao Jianqiang, director of Tianzhushan Geopark Administrative
Center, reviewed the progress of the park in the past 10 years. Scholar Zheng Yangui
shared the application process. Expert Wu Weiping introduced the science popularization
work of Tianzhushan Geopark. Other participants made suggestions on the
management and development of the park.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Tianzhushan
UGGp. Mr. Tu Gaosheng first expressed his gratitude to all the experts and
guests who had paid attention to the construction and development of Tianzhushan
Geopark over the past 10 years. He pointed out that governments at all
levels, party members and cadres should fully improve the ideological
understanding, firmly establish the concept of green development; the park
should continue to protect geo-heritages, disseminate geo-sciences, strengthen
management consciousness, optimize product design, strengthen joint
construction between communities and the
park, promote the cooperative development of all departments, extensively promote
geo-resources and develop tourism economy energetically.
The meeting also held an awarding ceremony for science
popularization demonstration schools.
