April 22, 2023 is the 54th World Earth Day, and the theme of this year's Earth Day is "Cherish the Earth, Harmony between Man and Nature". To further guide the whole society to establish the ecological civilization concept of "respecting nature, adapting to nature and protecting nature", promote the construction of beautiful Qianshan, and jointly build an earth home where people and nature live in harmony, Tianzhushan Global Geopark and Shuzhou Primary School of Qianshan City will jointly hold a series of thematic publicity activities for the World Earth Day 2023.
On Nov. 18, Tianzhushan UGGp went into local Huangni
Central Primary School to give a lecture on Paleocene mammalian fossils in
Qianshan Basin.
The lecture gave detailed explanations on the location
of Qianshan Basin, fossil sites, classification and features of common
paleontological fossils, through easy-to-understood words and pictures.
Students listened attentively in class, actively participated in the
interaction and appreciated the magical charm of paleontology in a lively and
warm atmosphere. The lecturer also brought a turtle fossil, so that students
could see it with their own eyes, touch the fossil, and learn the knowledge in
an intuitive and understandable way.
This activity promoted the students’ scientific and
cultural literacy and enriched the school culture. At the same time, the germ
of scientific thought of loving nature and protecting the environment would be
buried in the hearts of each student.
