April 22, 2023 is the 54th World Earth Day, and the theme of this year's Earth Day is "Cherish the Earth, Harmony between Man and Nature". On April 20, on the occasion of the 54th
World Earth Day, Tianzhushan UGGp and Shuzhou Primary School of Qianshan City
jointly held a series of science popularization activities with the theme of
"Cherishing the Earth, with Harmonious
Coexistence of Man and Nature".
At the launching ceremony, Tianzhushan Geopark Museum
issued a plaque of "Museum-School Cooperation and Science Popularization
Unit" to Shuzhou Primary School, and Shuzhou Primary School hired a staff
of Tianzhushan Geopark Museum as the science popularization tutor, and both
sides would build a second classroom for science popularization education
together in the form of museum-school cooperation.
After the ceremony, the students visited the museum in
an orderly manner following the museum guide. Through vivid and interesting
explanations, the students were able to understand the geological evolution of
the earth, which inspired the students to know the earth, love the earth and
protect the earth.
Afterwards, they watched a short video on science,
drew a handwritten paper on "Our Earth" and made signatures on the
"Earth Care Initiative".
The activity also invited Professor Wu Weiping, a
professor-level senior engineer from the Anhui Geosciences Research Institute
and an expert consultant of Tianzhushan UGGp, to give a lecture on the theme of
World Earth Day at Shuzhou Primary School. With the theme of "The Mystery
of the Earth", Professor Wu gave a lecture on the formation process of the
Earth, the material world of the Earth, the evolution of life on the Earth and
the movement of the Earth's crust, etc. The in-depth content and rich pictures
showed the students a feast of Earth sciences. The students expressed that they
would consciously develop the awareness of saving resources and caring for the
environment, and actively participate in the action of protecting the earth.
Through the thematic science education activities,
students increased their knowledge of earth sciences, enhanced their awareness
of caring for the earth and protecting their home through participation in
practice. The activities also guided young people to establish the concept of
ecological civilization of "respecting nature, conforming to nature and
protecting nature" from an early age, and played an effective role in
fostering a green and low-carbon lifestyle.
