April 22, 2024 is the 55th World Earth Day, and the theme of this year's Earth Day is "Planet vs. Plastics". In order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, publicize Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, guide the whole society to establish the concept of ecological civilization of "respecting nature, conforming to nature, and protecting nature", promote the construction of beautiful Qianshan, and jointly build an earth home where man and nature coexist in harmony, Tianzhushan Global Geopark, Anqing Qianshan Ecological Environment Branch and Qianshan Pailou Central Primary School jointly carried out the 55th "World Earth Day" and the 5th Asia-Pacific Geopark Week Science Popularization Campaign. In the form of museum-school cooperation and joint construction and common benefit, Tianzhushan Geopark will give full play to the social education function of the museum and jointly build a "second classroom" for popular science education.

In order to further pass on Chinese excellent traditional culture, enrich the spiritual and cultural life of the people, and guide the public to further understand and inherit the cultural connotation of traditional festivals, on June 21, on the occasion of the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival, Tianzhushan UGGp and Qianshan Gujing Central Primary School jointly launched the Dragon Boat Festival themed science popularization activity of "Promoting Traditional Culture and Cultivating Family and Country Feelings".
During the lecture
on the Dragon Boat Festival, the science volunteer told the students about the
origin and customs of the Dragon Boat Festival, then taught them to make rice
dumplings to welcome the Dragon Boat Festival. The volunteers prepared clean
rice dumpling leaves, fillings and tools, and the students carefully learned to
fold rice dumpling leaves, pack fillings, shape and wrap threads, and felt the
strong atmosphere of the Dragon Boat Festival in a burst of laughter.
Volunteers also presented popular science books and Geopark bags to the students,
who said "this Dragon Boat Festival is really meaningful!"
This activity
strengthened the students' understanding of the Dragon Boat Festival, cultural
self-confidence, patriotic feelings, gave full play to the ideological
edification and cultural education functions of traditional festivals, and
enhanced the sense of identity and pride of young people to national culture.
