April 22, 2024 is the 55th World Earth Day, and the theme of this year's Earth Day is "Planet vs. Plastics". In order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, publicize Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, guide the whole society to establish the concept of ecological civilization of "respecting nature, conforming to nature, and protecting nature", promote the construction of beautiful Qianshan, and jointly build an earth home where man and nature coexist in harmony, Tianzhushan Global Geopark, Anqing Qianshan Ecological Environment Branch and Qianshan Pailou Central Primary School jointly carried out the 55th "World Earth Day" and the 5th Asia-Pacific Geopark Week Science Popularization Campaign. In the form of museum-school cooperation and joint construction and common benefit, Tianzhushan Geopark will give full play to the social education function of the museum and jointly build a "second classroom" for popular science education.

October 13 marks the 34th International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction under the theme "Fighting Inequality for a Resilient Future ". In order to further inspire the whole society to pay attention to disaster prevention and mitigation and advocate all walks of life to jointly build a resilient future, on October 13, Tianzhushan Global Geopark, Qianshan Fire Rescue Brigade and other relevant departments launched a science popularization activity and nearly 100 teachers and students from Shuihou Central Primary School participated in the activity.
During the activity, under the guidance of an interpreter, the students walked into Tianzhushan Geopark Museum to learn about the knowledge of geosciences and the importance of protecting geosites, and improve the ability of disaster prevention and mitigation.
After visiting the museum, in order to enhance students' awareness of risk prevention, Qianshan City Fire Rescue Brigade firefighters were specially invited to carry out a vivid and interesting fire fighting class and they combined with typical home fire cases, explained the causes of fire, family fire prevention common sense, the use of fire equipment, etc., and issued home fire manuals, popularized fire safety knowledge, taught students how to evacuate and escape, enhance emergency avoidance and safety self-rescue and mutual rescue capabilities.
Following firefighters, the students had "zero distance" contact with fire trucks and explored the mystery of fire trucks. Firefighters introduced the performance of fire rescue vehicle equipment, the operation methods and uses of various rescue equipment, and the students were very attentive to observe and listen and had a preliminary understanding of fire fighting equipment, which improved students’ awareness of fire safety and enhanced their emergency self-rescue and escape ability to deal with fire and other disasters.
