April 22, 2024 is the 55th World Earth Day, and the theme of this year's Earth Day is "Planet vs. Plastics". In order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, publicize Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, guide the whole society to establish the concept of ecological civilization of "respecting nature, conforming to nature, and protecting nature", promote the construction of beautiful Qianshan, and jointly build an earth home where man and nature coexist in harmony, Tianzhushan Global Geopark, Anqing Qianshan Ecological Environment Branch and Qianshan Pailou Central Primary School jointly carried out the 55th "World Earth Day" and the 5th Asia-Pacific Geopark Week Science Popularization Campaign. In the form of museum-school cooperation and joint construction and common benefit, Tianzhushan Geopark will give full play to the social education function of the museum and jointly build a "second classroom" for popular science education.

On October 31, 2023, Tianzhushan UGGp was invited to
participate in the China UNESCO Global Geoparks Annual Conference 2023 held in
Yimengshan UGGp, Shandong. The annual conference was supported by the
Department of Nature Reserves of the National Forestry and Grassland
Administration, the Department of Natural Resources of Shandong Province
(Forestry Administration), and the organizers were the Chinese Academy of
Geological Sciences, the National Geoparks Network Center, the Global Geoparks
Network Office and the Linyi Municipal People's Government. More than 150
experts, scholars and representatives of the Geoparks got together to discuss
the sustainable development of the Geoparks.
The theme of this year's annual conference is:
exchange promotes promotion, innovation leads development. The opening ceremony
was presided over by Mr. He Qingcheng, Executive Deputy Director of the
National Geoparks Network Center, Mr. Wang Yinghai, Deputy Mayor of Linyi
Municipal People's Government, Mr. Ma Fuyi, Deputy Director of Shandong
Provincial Department of Natural Resources (Deputy Director of the Provincial
Forestry Bureau) and First-level Inspector, Ms. Shanpu Ai, Representative of
the UNESCO Office in Beijing, Mr. Wei Yanguang, Deputy Secretary of the Party
Committee, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences and
Director of the National Geoparks Network Center, Mr. Chen Xinfeng,
Second-level Inspector of the Nature Reserve Department of the National
Forestry and Grassland Administration, delivered speeches respectively. Mr. He
Qingcheng, Executive Deputy Director of the National Geoparks Network Center
and Director of the Global Geoparks Network Office, made the 2023 annual work
report of China's Global Geoparks.
During the conference, Ms. Huang Wen from Tianzhushan
UGGp shared with the delegates the experience and practices of the micro-film The Stone Pursuer, which won the second
prize in the 2nd Global Geoparks Film Festival, and won unanimous praise from
everyone. Yimengshan UGGp, Xiangxi UGGp, Longyan Geopark, Linxia Geopark, and
Leye-Fengshan Geopark respectively shared their experience in the construction
and management of geoparks, partners, and scientific research and
popularization, providing reference for various geoparks.
The success of this annual conference was well
received by the participants. In order to promote the construction and development
of geoparks, it provided a communication platform, and the geoparks shared with
each other, learnt from each other's advanced experience and scientific
practices, shortened the distance, enhanced friendship, and further promoted
the development of global geoparks.
