Activities Forecast of World Earth Day 2023 in Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark

April 22, 2023 is the 54th World Earth Day, and the theme of this year's Earth Day is "Cherish the Earth, Harmony between Man and Nature". To further guide the whole society to establish the ecological civilization concept of "respecting nature, adapting to nature and protecting nature", promote the construction of beautiful Qianshan, and jointly build an earth home where people and nature live in harmony, Tianzhushan Global Geopark and Shuzhou Primary School of Qianshan City will jointly hold a series of thematic publicity activities for the World Earth Day 2023.

In order to strengthen the GGN networking, on April 23, 2024, Mr. Mei Naixue, Deputy Director of the Standing Committee of the Anqing Municipal People's Congress and Secretary of the Qianshan Municipal Party Committee, led the Municipal Economic, Trade and Tourism Promotion Delegation to visit the Waitaki Whitestone UGGp in New Zealand. Ms. Vicki Soames, Secretary-General of the New Zealand National Commission for UNESCO, Mr. Gary Kircher, Mayor of Waitaki, Mr. David Higgins, Moari Elder and Leader, Ms. Rachel Plieger, Chair of the Whitestone Global Geopark Trust, and other relevant responsible personnel attended the reception. The two sides signed a letter of intent for friendly exchanges and cooperation in a warm atmosphere. This visit not only strengthened the exchanges and cooperation between the two geoparks, but also laid a solid foundation for their common development.


During the visit, the delegation from the Tianzhushan Global Geopark was warmly welcomed by the Waitaki Whitestone Global Geopark. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the management, protection, scientific research, education and tourism promotion of the Geoparks. Through this exchange, both sides expressed that there would be a wide range of cooperation space in geoheritage protection, geopark management, scientific research and other aspects.


Both sides hoped to further strengthen communication and contact to jointly promote the development of the Geoparks. The specific cooperation includes jointly carrying out geoscientific research, strengthening the share of geoparks management experience, and promoting the exchange and training of talents.
     The successful holding of this visit and signing event was highly valued and supported by both governments and the management bodies of the Geoparks. This cooperation will not only help enhance the visibility and influence of Tianzhushan Global Geopark and Waitaki Whitestone Global Geopark, but also promote in-depth exchanges and cooperation between China and Singapore in the field of geoparks. Both sides hoped to take this opportunity to further expand cooperation and jointly create a bright future for the geoparks. The two geoparks will work together to contribute to the protection of the earth's homeland and the sustainable development of the geoparks.
