Shanghai University of Sport (SUS), located in Changhai Road, Yangpu District, Shanghai city, is an esteemed higher education institution specializing in sports. It is jointly administered by the General Administration of Sports of China and the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. SUS is recognized as a national "double first-class" university and serves as a pilot construction unit for high-level local universities in Shanghai. The university has been selected as an eligible school for the Chinese government scholarship program and designated as a pilot institution by the Ministry of Education for independent admission of Chinese government scholarship students. It is also designated as a national base for high-level sports reserve talents and a leading program for first-class undergraduate and postgraduate education in Shanghai's higher education institutions. SUS was established in November 1952 under the name East China Sports Institute. It was formed through the merger of the physical education departments and divisions of Nanjing University, Jinling Women's University, and East China Normal University. In 1956, the institution was renamed Shanghai University of Sport. The university encompasses three campuses located in Yangpu, Xuhui, and Songjiang, along with teaching points in Jiangwan and Huangpu. Covering an expansive area of over 1100 mu, the university boasts a substantial floorage of approximately 370,000 m2.
