Granite is the Major Nature Building
Block of Tianzhushan Landscape.
The type of rock dominating the
Tianzhu Mountain is monzonitic granite with medium grain, 128 million years
old.
Granite is a common type of igneous
rock widely-occurring on the Earth. It is called an intrusive igneous rock as
it forms when magma from deep underground intrudes into the crust and cools.
The depth of the formation of granite is usually from 5 to 30 kilometers below
the Earth’s surface, so it is named plutonic rock.
Magma from deep underground intrudes
into the Earth’s crust.
Magma cools and then granite mass
forms.
The Earth’s crust uplifts, exposing
granite mass.
Granite is made up of three most
important minerals: quartz, feldspar and mica. It is a hard, crystalline rock,
which is very resistant to erosion.
