After the granite mass has undergone
tectonic movement and then outcropped,
it undergoes weathering. If
crustal movement has created the outline of the granite landform, the change of
temperature, wind erosion, rainfall and biological weathering further
sculpt modify it and finally create the
granite landscapes we appreciate today.
What is weathering?
Weathering refers to the process of
physical and chemical changes which take place when the rocks on or near the
earth surface come into contact with the Earth's atmosphere, biosphere and
waters.
There are three types of weathering.
Physical weathering: The breakdown of
rock into solid fragments by temperature differences and mechanical processes
without the chemical composition of the rock being altered
