Tianzhushan area is an outstanding area of Dabieshan ultra high pressure metamorphic belt and one of the best sites to study continental dynamics. It has a large amount of precious geoheritage such as magnificent granite landforms, rare Asian Paleocene mammalian fossils, a sound ecological environment, long history and rich culture, and abundant tourist attractions. Tianzhushan was approved as a national geopark in 2005 and became a member of the Global Geopark Network in September 2011. It is the 78th Global Geopark in the world, with an area of 413.14 m2.
