Under the direct management of the Ministry of Education, China University of Geosciences (CUG) is a national key comprehensive university with the co-construction of the Ministry of Land and Resources. CUG specializes in geology, natural resources, environment, and geological engineering technology and seeks to balance the development of sciences, technology, humanities, management, economics, education, philosophy, agriculture and arts. CUG is one of the key universities of Project 211 and Project 985. Moreover, CUG is included in 111 Project, Excellence Project and China State-sponsored Postgraduate Study Abroad Program. It has set up graduate schools.

Since October, 2014, CUG has carried out the study on the explication system of Tianzhusan Global Geopark there and redesigned the explanation boards outside, the corridor of science popularization, the museum, popular science books, promotional materials and its websites, etc.
