From April 21 to April 23, Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark held a series of colorful science popularization activities to commemorate the 48^th World Earth Day, with the theme of “Make Economical and Intensive Use of Resources, and Advocate Green and Low-carbon Lifestyle --- Tell the Story of the Earth”, aimed  at raising public awareness to protect the earth and our homeland.

On April 21, Professor Wu Weiping of Geological Survey Institute of Anhui Province gave a science popularization speech to the students of Yezhai High Middle School, clearly illustrated the story of the earth, the main geoheritages in Tianzhushan geopark and the relationship between human beings and the earth.

On April 22, more than 30 teachers and students from the First Middle School of Anqing City came to Tianzhushan Global Geopark and successively visited Laogongzui scientific investigation spot, Yangxiaowu fossil site, Xudawu fossil site and Hanchangchong scientific investigation spot. They carefully observed faults, folds and joints under the guidance of experts and learnt about the story of Tianzhushan's evolution.

Tianzhushan geopark organized a special science popularization exhibition with the theme of “Being concerned about climate change and advocating a low-carbon lifestyle”, which was successively held in Yezhai School, Tianzhushan Tourist Center, Downtown Square and communities. Tianzhushan geopark also attended the 11^th geo-sciences cultural-week activity held by China University of Geosciences (Beijing).

Through the series of science popularization activities, Tianzhushan UNESCO Global Geopark disseminates geosciences to the public especially adolescents, raising awareness about protecting the earth and our homeland, promoting the coordinated development of resources exploration and environmental protection and realising the harmonious development between human beings and nature.
