April 22, 2024 is the 55th World Earth Day, and the theme of this year's Earth Day is "Planet vs. Plastics". In order to thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, publicize Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, guide the whole society to establish the concept of ecological civilization of "respecting nature, conforming to nature, and protecting nature", promote the construction of beautiful Qianshan, and jointly build an earth home where man and nature coexist in harmony, Tianzhushan Global Geopark, Anqing Qianshan Ecological Environment Branch and Qianshan Pailou Central Primary School jointly carried out the 55th "World Earth Day" and the 5th Asia-Pacific Geopark Week Science Popularization Campaign. In the form of museum-school cooperation and joint construction and common benefit, Tianzhushan Geopark will give full play to the social education function of the museum and jointly build a "second classroom" for popular science education.
From October
10th to 17th, the 8th International Training Course on the Management and
Development of UNESCO Global Geoparks was held in Xiangxi Prefecture. A
representative of Tianzhushan UGGp attended the course.
With the theme
of "UNESCO Global Geoparks and Sustainable Development", the
seven-day training course brought together UNESCO members and geoparks’
representatives from China, Saudi Arabia, Mongolia and other countries to learn
the operation and management experience of global geoparks. The training courses
were taught by experts from the UNESCO Global Geoparks Council, the Executive
Board of the Global Geoparks Network and well-known global geoparks experts in
China, and conducted all-round targeted training and discussion on the concept,
standards, declaration, evaluation and revalidation missions of global geoparks
through a combination of expert explanations, problem analysis, student
discussions and field visits.
The
representative of Tianzhushan Geopark actively participated in the training,
actively participated in the roundtable discussion and carried out in-depth
exchanges with representatives of the sister parks during the meeting.
Through this
training, the participant of Tianzhushan UGGp had an in-depth understanding of
the concept of the Global Geoparks, and learnt more excellent innovative
practices and management experience. Tianzhushan UGGp will take this training
course as an opportunity to continuously improve the management, construction
and development capabilities of the geopark in accordance with the requirements
of the global geoparks criteria, and contribute to the sustainable development
of the local economy and society.
